How to remove EIS on Mercedes S-Class W221
Mercedes S-Class EIS removal instructions
The Mercedes S-Class model is one of the easier vehicles to remove the EIS on due to the limited things that need to be removed in order to access the module for a W221 from years 2005 to 2014. Removal Time: 20 minutes
Tools needed: Torx 20 and straight point pick
Step by step instructions:
Step #1:
First remove the torx bolts that hold the bottom kick panel near the driver floorboard, the panel that needs be removed holds the red latch for the hood and you should also see the OBD plug in. Drop the panel enough so you have access underneath to see the electronic ignition switch.
Step #2:
There is a upper clip holding the EIS in place, you will need to use the pick or your fingers to move the clip up to remove the EIS from its location, while also at the same time using your other hand to push the EIS out from the other side of the dashboard where you insert the key.
Step #3:
With alittle bit of pressure while the clip is not secure the electronic switch should pop out.
Step #4:
Once dislodged, remove the white and black electrical connectors that are attached to it by pressing the clip down and pulling it out.
Step #5:
Once removed from the vehicle, attach the preprinted shipping label from your email and box it and ship it to Mercedes Key Replacement.
