How to remove EIS on Mercedes R-Class
Procedure on how to remove EIS on Mercedes R-Class minivan
For the R-Class Mercedes, there are 2 different key styles: keyless go and turnkey system. When selecting key replacement service, please be aware of what system your vehicle has and choose the correct one.
Removal time: 25 minutes
Tools needed: flat head and needle nose pliers
Step by step instructions:
Step #1:
First remove the top air vent by working around the vent with a flat head or plastic wedge until it pops out
Step #2:
Next remove the ring that holds the EIS to the dashboard with needle nose pliers by rotating counterclockwise until it spins off (if you have keyless-go remove the push to start button first by grabbing it and pulling it out)
Step #3:
Next reach into the air vent compartment and grab electronic ignition switch from inside dashboard, making sure to disconnect any wire connectors connected to it before fully removing from dash
