How to remove EIS on Mercedes CLS-Class W219

Mercedes Benz EIS removal C219

EIS location on Mercedes CLS W219

Losing a Mercedes key fob can be expensive to replace if you're calling the dealership for a key replacement. Sometimes a mobile key locksmith can be able to make a fobbik key to a Mercedes Benz if they have the correct programmer and the knowledge on how to originate one when its lost. Although this can be expensive sometimes with service fees if a Mercedes locksmith is not nearby. A tow is not a option either when tow truck drivers charge by the mile, the rates can rack up fast if a dealer is not near by. An alternative solution can be to remove the EIS yourself and ship it to us. We have the proper tools to retrieve the data from the electronic switch in order to produce a working Mercedes Benz chip key that starts your car.

Removal time: 30 minutes

Tools needed: small flat head screwdriver, needle nose pliers, T20 torx driver

Step by step instructions:

Step #1:

Start at the gear shift selector and remove the bezel that goes around it by using a small flat head screwdriver to pry at the top where it meets the ashtray, by using a prying force you will be able to disconnect the plastic clips that hold it in place to the center console. Lift up on the bezel, you will need to have the shifter in neutral in order to remove it fully. After, disconnect any wire connectors connected to it. It does not need to be fully removed, only raised high enough so you can remove the ashtray by pulling up on it with force until it pops up, you will need to disconnect the wire connectors as well to the ashtray in order to fully remove it and set it aside

Step #2:

There are 2 T20 torx bit screw that hold that ac assembly in place at the bottom where the ashtray was removed, remove those. Locate the 3 wire connectors at the bottom, unplug them all then the ac unit can be pulled out

Step #3:

Locate the 2 torx bit screws on the bottom of the radio, loosen them, they cannot be pulled out because they are on a track. Now the radio can be slid out, remove the radio wire connectors so it can be set aside

Step #4:

Now you have accessibility to the EIS on the left, remove the chrome ring that holds the electronic switch to the front of the dashboard by rotating counterclockwise until it spins off

Step #5:

Reach into the radio compartment pocket and access the EIS and pull it out, first removing any electrical wire connectors that are on it before fully removing it
