Removing an EIS on a Mercedes Maybach 57
Getting a Mercedes key replacement for a Maybach 57 can be expensive given the higher luxury type of vehicle that it is. We recommend removing the EIS and mailing it to us so we can access the data and produce a working fobik key for years 2004 thru 2012. If you need assistance removing the electronic switch, we have included instructions below on how to remove it from the dashboard.
Removal time: 25 minutes
Tools needed: needle nose pliers, torx T20 driver
Step by step instructions:
Step #1:
First, remove the bottom kick panel that is held on by 3 T20 screws, the panel that has the OBD attached to it is the one that you want to remove
Step #2:
Second, remove the silver ring that holds the EIS to the front of the dashboard by using needle nose pliers to rotate it counterclockwise until it spins off
Step #3:
Next, go to the bottom floorboard and reach up where the EIS is located and remove it, also disconnecting any wire connectors attached at the same time
