How to remove EIS on Mercedes M-Class W166
Mercedes M-Class EIS removal instructions
This article is going to talk about the process of how to remove the EIS for W166 years 2011 2012 2013 and 2014. If you have a W163 model, we can only do the remote fobik keys. We cannot do the remote flip keys at this time. If you notice the M-Class has the same interior as a GL-Class so the procedure is going to be the same for W164. If you need the procedure, please refer to GL-Class procedure.
Removal Time: 15 minutes
Tools needed: needle nose pliers, T20 torx
Step by step instructions:
Step #1:
First, remove chrome ring that fits around EIS on front of dashboard by using needle nose pliers to rotate counterclockwise until it twists off.
Step #2:
Second, remove the bottom kick panel that has the hood latch and OBD port attached to by removing the T20 torx bolts
Step #3:
Third, the EIS should be loose now because the ring is removed, reach up and locate the electronic ignition switch and bring down to remove the wire cable connectors.
Step #4:
Forth, package the EIS for shipping then attach the preprinted shipping label and mail to us at Mercedes Key Replacement
For keyless go models please select this option if you have a push to start button on the dashboard to start your car. Includes 1 remote fobik key programmed and 1 preprinted shipping label to mail us your EIS after you have removed it
